Confused about something... if I arrived in BKK on Dec. 18 can I get a visa extension on Koh Samui on Jan. 12th... or do I have to do it on Jan. 17th?

Not sure if i have to wait the "day before it expires" or if I can do it a few days in advance.

thanks in advance for any help

Why not do it on the 17th? It is a tuesday and if you are on Koh Samui anyway, what is the trouble?

Geez, you are kidding me, right? That is freaking ridiculous. They have an immigration desk in the hospital in Chaweng but they can't come over to Koh Phangan even once a month?
