soi41
The amount mentioned in the topic tittle was the januari output in the US. I know from following the stockexchange, that naturalgas-stocks are worth almost nothing. So my (maybe stupid) question is, why is this big reserve not used as carfuel ? To expensive logistics? To expensive to refine? Is it "un-american" ? Checked a map on LPG-stations in the US, and quite many states had less than 10 stations statewide! VocalNeal
Not being a chemist I think that LPG is a byproduct of oil refining whereas NGV is what you are referring to IE. natural gas. Why doesn't US use NGV. Probably for the same reason I wouldn't use it. Lack of range and lengthy fill time. Now as a lot of houses have gas piped to their houses there might be an argument for having a compressor in the house and refilling the vehicle at night form the "mains". However the oil companies lobby is too big and the safety Nazi's would have a field day.
