April 3, 201214 yr I will be changing employer from one school to another over the summer break. My current work permit and visa are valid until Aug 31st. Do I have to leave the country to get another non-Immi B visa in order for them to sort out a new work permit? I also have children on student visas - can we not sort it out without having to leave Thailand? Help!!!
April 3, 201214 yr The day you stop working is the day you have to cancel your work permit and go to immirgation to cancel your permission to stay (if on an extension of stay based on working). Immirgation can give you an extension of 7 days, to try and fix the paperwork and work permit for the new employer. If you have 500,000 baht in the bank for I believe 2 months, immigration can give you a 1 year extension of stay based on your children studying in Thailand. That would give you more time, but in the end it might still be required to get a new non-B.
April 4, 201214 yr Out of curiosity... I have seen this posted but I forget. The OP has to cancel his extension of stay. So at that moment he is overstaying - yes? Do they give you a week to get out of Thailand? I do not recall that to be the case. So, by the time you sort out how to get out of the country, you are most likely over by at least a few days if not a week++. If so, what sort of system is that?! Cancel your extension and then give you another a week for B1900 :-)) Edited April 4, 201214 yr by bangkokburning
April 4, 201214 yr When he cancalles his permission to stay he neds to elave the country the same day, but he can get an extra 7 days from immigration to leave the country for 1,900 baht.
