Progress In Myanmar Affect Thai Foreign Investment Policy?

Featured Replies

Wonder what a effect the current economic/political progress in Myanmar will have on Thailand's historically unfriendly investment environment?

Myanmar has the second largest land mass in South East Asia, with with a mass of untapped natural resources. No doubt the armies of western investment banks are already amassing at the borders!

I can't imagine the Thai's standing by idly while their historically poor cousin get's rich overnight!

Maybe the loss of face what be too great to bear!

Over the last few years Myanmar had already an excellent economic grow. China is investing there since a long time.

But it will need a long time before it gets the level of Thailand.

True, I saw this on the BBC that China has been outpacing the west in foreign investment over the last few years. Seems to be the case in other developing markets also BRIC.

China and Singapore have been in Myanmar for years. When they speak of Western investment, it's all about oil and gas.
