I am a professional artist and would like to bring my watercolour paintings with me in hopes of either getting an exhibition at an existing art gallery or setting up my own exhibition.

I have a multiple entry B-Visa

Will my artwork be confiscated?

Will I have to pay duties on a value immigration places on the art?

Do I need a special permit?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Import duty might need to be paid, you are importing goods for sale.

You will have to let a gallary or something take care of the selling. You doing it by yourself might not be legal as it could be considered work.

Thanks for the reply Mario2008, yes that makes sense, they could place a high value on it (not that its worth that much) and stick me with a big duty fee.

I am thinking of setting up a company for some other art related things I want to do. Only then would I set up my own gallery or exhibition I would set up a company first.

I was hoping there was some kind of Artists Visa to apply for. I know theres one for performing artists but dont think I would qualify for that.

Indeed, only for perforing artists for which I don't think you qualify, nor do you seem to vit in any other category, except maybe a business visa as you plan to sell your work. But that would depend on the consulate you would apply to and will at the least need an invitation letter from a gallery to show your work. Might be a long shot, but the best I can think of. Contact the consulate where you plan to apply first and see what they think.

Actually already have a Multiple Entry Non-Imm B Visa and yes its a good idea to give the consulate I got it from a visit and see what they say. Also a good idea to get a letter of invite from a gallery. Will explore both.

Thanks Again
