Stolen Passport

Featured Replies

So yesterday I had un unfortunate even in which my bag with laptop, 2 harddrives, thai bank cards, passport, thai work permit and a few other things got stolen while on a 3 week holiday in South Africa.

Just before coming out to SA from Thailand, I got a year non B visa and multiple entries as well as my work permit for a year. It was over 8000baht!

I have applied for a new SA passport and I'm hoping it will come in time as I leave for Thailand on the 1st May.

What I would like to know is:

A - I'm in Thailand one day before going to Malaysia for a week and SA can only issue me a double entry visa for the ridiculous amount of 4800baht (not to mention I have to re do all the visa processes that SA requires like proving money in my bank and I don't have acess to my Thai accounts - not even online). Can I go to Thailand on a tourist visa and apply for my non B with multiple entries in Kuala Lumpur? How much would this cost and what would I need from the school?

B - I'm guessing this would affect my work permit (which the school said they will report to the gov). Would I apply for a brand new one and have to pay the 3000Bath year permit fee all over again?

Any information will be much appreciated. I'm in quite a state about it all.

Thank you :)

Your employer can use form WP4 to apply for a replacement WP - see attached form.

Try to enter Thailand on the least expensive method possible (if you are lucky Visa Exempt Entry) pick up your replacement WP/Replacement Application Receipt, then go to KL with all the correct papers and your replacement WP/application receipt and with luck you will get a new One Year Non Immigrant B; at worst you should be able to get a 90 day Single Entry Non B Visa.

Contact Thai Embassy KL to check the paperwork requirements.

Good luck and try to spread your eggs betwen several baskets next time!

Thank you so much for your response smile.png

Is it possible for me to give them scanned and printed copies at the Embassy or do they only accept ogininal copies?

Definitely won't ever be putting everything in one bag!

Don't forget to get a copy of a police report. Very helpful when replacing stuff in Thailand.

Embassies rarely ask to see original documents - passports excepted; I know of people who have submitted scans where extra requested documents were transmitted then printed (email/fax).

Some Embassies have also on occasions asked to see the original Work Permit, but normally they only want a copy.

Do take with you a copy of the police report. labour might ask for it.
