Leasing Land

Recommended Posts

Hi, can any of you guys give me some infomation on leasing a small parcel of land, how is it done , is there a min and max term, and what is the going rate, i know that is a ' how long is a piece od string' question, but some some basic ideas from various locations in Isaan is all i need, having good quality water is important, if that is possible, something like a small house on a couple of rai would be good

Cheers

Hello Scoop1, you mostly find out about land for rent/sale by asking.

My wife talked to the brother of the guy we rent from, he has the 2 rai

behind us.

I cleared it off and started growing. It has no water, but I use the well

from the house we rent and put a couple 1" pipes through for the drip

irrigation.

Nothing on paper, he stops by a couple time a year to look at the land.

Pay Bt.2,000 for 2 rai for 1 year. 8Km out of downtown Korat, 220M

off Hwy 226

Think he's going to give it to his kid(s). The land is 1Mil a rai in this area,

power and tap water is 30M away on a cement soi if they were to build.

If you want to grow, find your market, then look for a place.

Some people feel the need to have family close by, it may not aline with

your market plans.

We rent land over in the west for as lttle as 500 baht per rai per year with the choice of back to back year renting and some we have paid part thereof for a 5 year lease .

Your better off buying than renting, but that all depends on cash flow ,we picked up a typical 2 story brick downstairs and wood upstairs Thai house on 17 Rai for 475000 Bt 3 years ago and have a crop of cassava on that one and always we are asked if we want to sell it, so its a win win situation .

1.as you own the land and you can't be kicked off after the owners see what a good crop you get from a little TLC and money and

2. if you ever want to pull up stumps and leave, the land price is surely to have risen and you make a profit even if your crop fails due to the wacky weather .

We are over Sukhothai way .
