Just looked at them but don't see the yellow markings??,it is not poisonous as it actually bit my friend yesterday and he is still alive tongue.png and there are many of them about in the garden.

No, non-venomous but does like to bite as your friend found out. wink.png

Looks like a Checkered Keelback:

Close... its a Yellow-spotted or Common Keelback (Xenochrophis flavipunctatus). A close relative of the Chequered that used to be considered the same species as it was thought to be just a colour variant of the same animal. Now recognised a separate species. The difference is in the head pattern, lack of strong chequered markings & detail to certain scales. A recent i.d. thread featured the same snake.

(Tywais, your pic is actually showing sp.flavipunctatus & not a true Chequered)
