English Teaching Jobs In Thailand.

Featured Replies

I recently visited Thailand and fell in love with the country. I have taught some English classes in Ecuador and have a 2 year degree and a T.E.S.L. certificate.

I was wondering if there was employment offered with my qualifications in Thailand making enough money to live there?

Just curious, how can something that takes 2 years be called a degree ?? Where I come from, 2 years of undergraduate study would constitute a diploma.

My current understanding is that you need any kind of bachelors degree to LEGALLY get a work permit to teach in Thailand. Of course, there are people teaching on tourist and other kinds of visas without work permits. To me, that does not sound like a happy situation. It would be risky and you would have no rights.

I don't think a two year program would qualify.

You'll probably have to look elsewhere to do TEFL without a degree. The countries that I know you can do this include Cambodia, Indonesia, and various eastern European countries.

Check ajarn.com for more info on Thailand.

I know nothing at all about this subject but I presume that it is also permissible to teach with a masters degree, even without a bachelors degree. So isnt the best answer to top up with a year doing an MA or Msc (or even MBA)? Courses seem cheap and plentiful in thailand.
