I have been on a non-imm B extension for many years now and my employment in Thailand is drawing to close. I know that once my work permit is cancelled my extension is canceled the same day. I know I can get the 7 day extension for that, but can I then convert straight to a retirement extension (I will have the 800k THB in bank for 3 months already) without leaving the country and getting a new Non-Imm O visa?

Note that I originally entered Thailand on a Non-Imm O visa (issued in China for Thai wife) in 2004 and have had extensions of that original 90 day permission to stay based on working since then.

Should not even require the 7 days if you show up with TM.7 for retirement and the required proof of bank deposit/letter from bank at same time you cancel your extension of stay for employment.

Nice to know it could be that easy. Not sure my HR rep is going to be willing to help with the changeover as she thinks I will be leaving permently for a job in another country, whihc I am, but I want to be able to continue with extenstions since I will be traveling back to Thaialnd reguarly from the new country. Will, of course, be getting mulitple re-entry permit at the same time.

Do you think I can do it on seperate trip like the next day with a new agent helping?

If you take the 7 days expect it could be done. At the worst an exit/return to start the retirement process so not really hard either way.
