April 26, 201214 yr crossed on many occasions.since 11-11-11 Functional.......visa on arrival (front desk) same-same Nongkhai-vientiane except.....no tuktuks or taxi service yet. lao side. if i am remembering correctly 8 international busses are going u and down from Thakhek-Nakon and vica versa. I personall LOVE the crossing...car-visa- etc on both sides takes minutes instead of ovecrowded lines of foreigners waiting for theirvisa on arrival change....nakhon is almost empty-----they love to welcome you down there....it means they have things to do good luck hgma

April 26, 201214 yr The ferry is now for Thai and Lao only. Very easy crossing the bridge on the bus or by car.
April 26, 201214 yr Author When you say cross by bus you mean the bus lets you off at the immigration where you fill out the forms and get your visa. then on the otherside in Laos how do you get into town? Another Bus?
