[Myanmar] Burma To Relax Visa Requirements

Citizens of countries belonging to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) will be able to receive tourist and business visas on arrival from June 1, according to a report by the Bangkok-based daily The Nation. Burma previously offered visas-on-arrival to nationals of most Western countries, but the program was suspended shortly before elections were held in November 2010, in a move seen as an attempt to prevent foreigners from observing the polls. The number of visitors to Burma has increased dramatically since a series of reforms was initiated last year.
