Sgs2 Wall Chargers

Featured Replies

I have a number of wall chargers everywhere in my house/car/travel bag and I've noticed some of them don't work well when charging the S2, the touch screen seems to freeze up at random times and for the most part can't be used while plugged in. The one charger I use the most is the smal 1"x1"x1" or so chineese made iphone charger, it's ouptut is 5v 1A. As I mentioned I have a few other chrgers, some ofm which are brand name but they act the same. Generally I noticed if I plug it into a computer USB port or a car charger, it works fine.

Did anyone noticed any weird behaviour with thier not Samsung made wall chargers? Will it damage the device in a long run? Is it the high current output that gives the troubles or a charger/USB cable itself?

i have not noticed much except the galaxy s2 is a painfully slow device to charge

mine takes about 3.5 hours plugged into the wall and on usb i think it takes even longer

hopefully they will upgrade this in future models

Big battery. But check out the power output on the side of your charger, you might be able to get one with higher output.

S2 charges at 650mA plugged into the wall, and 450mA when plugged into USB. That's why it takes longer on USB.

As to the OP - the S2 has a lot more on it's USB port than power and data. If your iPhone charger is doing anything other than providing power - ie providing signals on any pin other than the power pins, it could "confuse" the S2.

Fwiw the S2 charges off every car cigarette lighter doo-dah I've ever tried, off a Blackberry charger, and off a generic charger I have (one of those things with multiple heads) - so your iPhone charger must be doing something that's confusing the S2...

Just checked some of the chargers I had laying around, all the chinese made ones are freezing the screen and brand named from various manufacturers aren't.

Hafta carry a bigger brand name charger with me now. :(
