Suspected Water Meter thief arrested by Police in Na-Jomtien

PATTAYA:--A 19 year old man was caught stealing Water Meters from a government housing project in the Na-Jomtien area on Friday.

Police were contacted by Security Guards at the village who confirmed they had detained Khun Adisak who is suspected of stealing over 100 water meters from the estate over the period of 6 months.

Items seized from the suspect include a wrench and hammer inside a blue bag which were all taken into evidence along with the meters. Khun Adisak claimed he would sell the meters on to second-hand shops for 100 Baht each.

JOOC, what do second hand shops do with stolen water meters? Do they actually resell the meters? Or is there enough scrap material to make dismantling them lucrative? And, if the latter, I would think a scrapyard would be a better place to sell them?

That's the reason why new water meters are from Plastic. Thieves are not interested in those :D
