Hello All,

I found this forum while searching for jobs in Thailand and would like some advice if anyone can help?

Myself and 2 friends all single and UK expats based in Dubai have had enough of the sandpit and looking for new pastures...

We are relocation consultants for import and export companies who move families all over the world and also specialise in web development.

My questions are...

1.Are there any good recruitment agencies in Thailand?

2 Were is the best place to settle in Thailand for expats?

3.What would be the average salary for middle management in Thailand?

4.what would be the average rent for a 3 bed place (furnished)?

Thanks for all your help

Gerry

Thanks

Work permits are pretty scarce in thailand ,only a few occuptions where foreigners have a chance of getting them

i doubt 3 of you will be able to walk into "middle management positions" in a thai company unless you are all pretty gifted at something thai people cant do

even then ,it wont be easy

all the work is in Bangkok ,although other cities are more pleasant to live ,so it will come down to salary v scenery

(some nice beaches and countryside and beautiful mountains ,but ,not much way to earn good money outside the cities which are overcrowded ,dirty and polluted )

you get used to all to all that though ,after a while ,diesel fumes taste the same as air when your breathing them in :)

Bangkok is the best place to start for professional expats who look for the job in decent international companies.

The most most popular area to live is on BTS lines such as Sukhumvit; Thonglor, Ekkamai or Ploenchit, Chitlom, Ratchadamri if you like nice peaceful neighbourhood. The price for modern decent condominium 1 bed room, 50-60 sqm for rent is ranging from 35K-50K baht depending on areas. If you look for a house with 3 bedrooms in downtown BKK, the rent will be very high probably starting from 50K up to 100K per month. In Nonthaburi area you can really nice modern house with 3 bedrooms with the price around 35K-40K per month.

My guess for the pay of mid management level expat could be around 150k - 250k baht a month depending on business and size of companies.

Good luck :)

Temples have nothing to do with it mate...We are also looking at Singapore and Malaysia....I read in a recent survey that 68% of expats move to Thailand and to be fair...ANYTHING is better than the UK...

Most important to me is earning money to send to my daughter after a recent divorce so ....gather the facts before you judge ;-)

thanks for your help everyone else so far....

can you advise on the availability of work in Phuket also?

and the chances of just turning up and getting a job on the off chance?

Thanks

Gezza

I love the temples, can't get enough of them. More temples the merrier.

I have to agree about the UK

Bangkok will definitely be the place, but do not hold your breath.................. :bah:

Well you must know the major players in that business so no need for a recruitment agency in Thailand, just approach them directly.

Any decently paying job - and many people consider THB 50K to be an excellent salary here - is very difficult to come by for one guy job-hunting, much less three at a time. Note that Thais in middle management jobs often make half that.

Keep in mind there are thousands of farang looking to settle here for the girls, and this keeps salaries depressed, especially for local hires - best to try to get recruited from overseas.

Note also the relo biz hasn't been booming in recent years especially on the inbound side since the flood.

KL/Singapore/HK probably more fertile territory.

PS I know sales-type jobs going in Phuket that can pay well, but basically commission only, and most are scamming operations.
