PM Yingluck Pleads With Reporters To Stop Posing Questions On Cabinet Reshuffle

Recommended Posts

It's pointless reporters posing questions to which the recipient has no answers … not, at least, until her boss approves them.

But it was noteworthy that Yingluck sees her priority as addressing the non-existent problem of rising prices.

Wrong thread, wrong topic. Boy are you guys confused.

He or his family has won every election he ran in. Fair or not fair is a moot point. He won and your opinion of what the majority wants is not what has been shown in election after election. The only way the majority is defeated in Thailand is by coup. So man up and get ready because it is only a matter of time before the majority rules. Why Yingluck even talks to reporters is a mystery to me. No one has any real doubts about what's going on.

He hasn't got a majority vote in every election he's run in, and in the last election people would have voted for PTP for plenty of other reasons than bringing him back.

The important ones he won including the last one.

In general Thai people hate being put on the spot, especially if they do NOT have a decent answer. Not being able to answer is losing face, feeling inferior.

This P.M. is a failure if she cannot be challenged, interviewed, debate with opposition, and for most part avoid parliament sessions. Family - photo shots-party propaganda are the flavour of the month.

Again she told reporters she "WANTS TIME"

and now, as per the other paper's article, it's apparently back once again to tears and red eyes for Yingluck crying.gif during her discovery tour of how the rest of Thailand that aren't billionaires live....

because people are upset with her for her telling them they only "misconceived" the reality of price increases.

Bring out the tissues again

.

Wrong topic.

Hard to believe her priority is the people when all they work on is a way to bring Thaksin back. Actions speak louder than words. And the masses are starting to figure this out.

Since the masses want Thaksin back what's the big deal? I would imagine you meant to say Prem instead of masses right?

Some want him back for sure, but not the majority. It's just not that big of a deal to them. Unless they are getting paid to attend rallies. The majority want a better life and were hoping PTP was going to deliver that.

Now I can see I need to be more educated about Khun T. I had previously understood that at first he was a dismal failure in his early elections and kind of disappeared from the face of the ballots for a while. I though that was when he amassed a fortune by paying off the sucessful politicians to give him a stranglehold on the mobile telephone industry. Then, armed with an even greater fortune and a whole lot of people who depended on him for a whole lot of income, he went back into the election game again, and was successful, even though he may have had to use illegal tactics to accomplish the goal. From what you've written, it sounds like I was wrong and Mr. T. has always been a winner in every election he's ever run in. Could someone please confirm this for us?

Thanks.

His parties got into government, but that doesn't show what the majority wants when the only time his party got a majority vote was in 2005.

They won the last election for gods sake. Y is him. This is news to no one. The majority of Thais currently want the guy back. Do I like him? No. Is he any good for Thailand? No. Is he good for expants? No. But then again Thailand fought on the Japanese side in WWII also.

Public servant (or rather puppet servant) in a prominent position as a ''Prime Minister'' and she wants the press to stop asking questions concerning the rest of the cabinet puppets.

Wow, is not the man and the woman in the street supposed to know how devious this maladministration is, or can't she contact the puppet master ?

P.T. Democracy,

The fourth estate despite its faults is one of the front line defenders of democracy, truth hurts politicians with hidden agenda's and those politicians who are unable to act independently.

Why on earth do you expect an incumbent PM to announce changes to cabinet positions to the press, before the people involved have been informed? That happens nowhere in the world.

Are you never going to accept the fact that a majority is a normal reference in a parliamentary democracy for the party that won the greatest share of seats?

Speculating about why people voted for PTP is is a fruitless task ; more fertile ground would be trying to find why they did not vote for the Democrats yet again.

Pastitche you are a pretty sane guy to be posting in a political Thai Visa thread.

They voted for PTP because of their socialist promises. They are realising now that PTP is as capitalist as the Dems. The question is, who will they vote for next time?

Fair or not fair is exactly the point in it.

And at the time of the coup he was not in power in democratic means according the 1997 constitution.

As he tried to change Thailand to a single party system (like East Germany, Cuba, Soviet...)

You got me there h90. I have no idea what you are talking about. Does the majority of Thais wanting him back in power reflect a general knowledge of what you are referring to and was it general knowledge at the time of the coup? I mean did it make the newspapers before the coup took place and was explained to the people that was why the coup was taking place?

My only point is Miss Y should not have to answer questions because the majority of Thais don't care. She should just tell them, "you think too much" and leave it at that. It's not like that would be the first time the reporters have heard that.

You confuse dictatorship with democracy. I know the red definition of democracy is very similar to dictatorship, but it is not a mistake an educated person brought up in a real democracy should make.

Thailand has never had a democracy that I know of. I thought this was a dictatorship. Am I wrong?

I don't understand your posting....but it might be my English skills.

What does this sentence mean?

" I have no idea what you are talking about. I mean did it make the newspapers before the coup took place and was explained to the people that was why the coup was taking place?"

I accept that the PTP won the election with a majority of seats and a near majority of votes.

That is a lot different than "the majority of voters want Thaksin back".

Won it with massive vote buying so it doesn't indicate anything.

Ouch!

Yingluck is in a bit of a spot though. The political journos know their stuff better than she does so when they ask questions it must be like being back at school.

I never suggested that the majority of voters or even the majority of PTP voters want Thaksin back. I have no evidence to support or reject that proposition and to be honest, it does not concern me either way, although it appears to be a doomsday scenario to many posters on here. Thaksin is a corrupt politician , politicians everywhere are corrupt. His return or continued absence will not, I believe, affect my life significantly.

Where in the world do political journalists expect an answer from a Prime Minister about what will happen in a cabinet re-shuffle? If you know of any example, I would like to hear of it; However I suspect that you can't find any.

A few of the interviewers from the 70/80s in the UK would have had her a blubbering wreck.

Interviewers in the 70/80s UK would have been sufficiently intelligent and politically sophisticated not to expect a PM to answer questions about a cabinet re-shuffle before it happened.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has pleaded with reporters to stop posing questions on the Cabinet reshuffle

The Thai version of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

If the media don't ask questions, she won't tell answers.

If the media do ask questions, she won't tell answers.

.

She should have said "questions concerning the government reshuffle please contact my brother in Dubai"

Just a wild guess it was one of many questions asked, instead of giving a smile and 1 or 2 minutes of her time she found a way out by picking this question to end the pressure.  It is ironic that a very popular P.M( landslide )is not confident to answer questions that should be easy for her. it is nearly everytime she is confronted the brick wall goes up.   What is up with the popular leader ???? she fears what ???

You are right on this topic, but on any other one, she'd be fish bait.

Quite right.

Can't really see Thatcher or any other British PM, disclosing to the press details of an impending cabinet re-shuffle prior to the event.

Does not happen.
