The cause of the accident, which also injured more than a dozen children, was not immediately known. The incident occurred in a classroom at a private school in Shakargarh, a city in the far northeast of Narowal District in Punjab province, when the weakened roof collapsed onto children. There were some 40 students taking class when it happened, officials said. The Pakistani government initially reported four children were killed, but local rescue workers later said the death toll had risen to at least seven after more bodies were taken from the rubble. Fifteen children were believed to have also been injured, but their conditions were not immediately known.Parents and family members of the victims went to the scene after the accident and demanded actions to be taken against the school administration, which has been receiving high tuition fees. Some reports indicated that the school, which was constructed only a few years ago, was built with poor quality raw material. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed grief over the deaths and ordered authorities to ensure the best medical treatment for those injured. "He prayed for the souls of deceased children to rest in peace and for the grant of patience to their parents," his office said in a brief statement.Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif said an investigation into the incident has already been ordered. tvn.png
