Laos Non Imm Visa ( For Work Or Thai Kids)

Featured Replies

Hi. My 2 week Thai Tourist transit visa will expire 14/5, so I think I have to go out to Laos. I am applying chiangrai schools, but not sure which school yet. I also have custody 2 Thai kids living with me (but no 400k). What visa should I get in Vientienne?

If I get a letter from a school (even if I don’t end up working at that school) that they intend to hire me, can I get the non-B 60 dys, to give time for making work permit in Thailand? Can I get non imm o or b without such an employer letter?

Or may I be able to get a non imm o 30 or 60 dys, (for my Thai kids) even without 400k?

Thanks from Mr. confusion.

If you have birth certificates of your Thai children you should be able to obtain a single entry non immigrant O visa for 90 day stay. You will not obtain a non immigrant B visa with just a letter in the area AFAIK (full school paperwork would be required I believe). But you should be able to extend your current entry 60 days on basis of being father of Thai children if you have not done that yet (local immigration office and TM.7 at cost of 1,900 baht).

If you get the non-o you will not need a B visa when you get a work permit and apply for an extension of stay. If your job pays 40,000 baht or more you can extend based upon supporting your children by showing your work permit and tax payments to prove your income. This extension would be much better that one based upon working because it is not tied to your job, with a work extension you loose your extension if you loose your job.

Actually without marriage suspect he may need a non immigrant B visa for work as many recent reports that some Labor offices will no longer issue work permit on an O visa entry. They should for a marriage extension of stay but he will not have that.

NON IMM O 90 DAY LAOS - That's good. I can get single entry non imm o 90 day in Laos.

60 DAY EXTENSION THAILAND , carer of Thai children - I already had that visa during my last entry, 60 day extension of my non imm o. This current entry, I came in on 2 week tourist transit. Can I extend again this entry & transfer from tourist to non imm o in Thailand? so I don't need to go out? Can the 60 day be used once a lifetime, or once an entry extension? thanks

60 day is one time per entry but some offices will have other ideas as it used to have "one time" in wording with no definition. That was removed from law; but perhaps not in everyone's mind.

Original and copies.

As said for marriage certificate or birth certificate the normal requirement is original to see and copies to keep.

no way. Maesai said 60 day one time for your passport , not once per entry. Have to go out to Laos.

Are you sure I can get 90 day non imm o, carer and father thai kids, without 40k bank & no income?

Then I can apply work permit in Thailand, if I want. thanks from Mr. Confusion.

Regarding the 60 day extension, each office seems to have its own rules. Curently the most commen interpretation of the rule seems to be that you get 1 per entry.

Nothing is 100% as rules change, consulates chang their policy etc, but you should be able to get a single non-O. Do have the birth certificate with you and proof that you are the legal father of the children. If the children already have an ID-card a copy of that would be nice, togehter with copy of tabien baan.

For a work permit you first have to find a job.

not on tabeean barn (my kids are). I have all kids documents. Money I can show is 50k bt in thai bankbook & on-line uk ac 80k bt, Can I get the non 0 in Vientiane.

I do have jobs & can sign contract anytime, but my visa out Monday 14th. I could try for 60day in Chiangmai, but out of time.

With birth certificate you should be fine in Vientianne. No need to show money for a single non-O.
