May 12, 201214 yr Author What battery? Sorry but I have no more details other than the pictures . That's really why I started with the word -Reputedly.
May 13, 201214 yr Alright, so I assume you are guessing that the exploding battery may have been in some GPS device on the dashboard? Could have been a cellphone as well. I have seen some Youtube videos of alleged exploding laptop batteries. I left my Garmin hand-held in it's holder on the dashboard in the Isaan sun a few years ago. Nothing exploded but it did 'brick' the device. Happily, Garmin replaced the guts of it for around 120 bucks which I thought was very reasonable for an out-of-warranty device that had cost over 400 bucks when purchased new.
May 13, 201214 yr I had this as an email fwd. The owner left a usb charger in the electrical socket overnight as he always does and it caused an electrical fire. He basically removed his mobile phone once he got home but despite the car/ignition being turned off and nothing being plugged into the charger it caught fire. Sent from Android please excuse errors in type or judgement

June 16, 201214 yr While we're on the topic of explosions in cars due to excessive heat from the sun . . . Watch out for those aerosol cans! Most of them are labeled about avoiding direct sun and/or temperatures of 120° F (48.9° C) or greater. I had a co-worker with an aerosol can in the back seat of his car, along with a box of heavy equipment service manuals. It was parked in the July sun in Illinois, and the can blew. It bounced the manuals off the ceiling of the car, and blew shrapnel through the driver seat, destroying it.
