District Officers catch 60 suspected drug users in South Pattaya

PATTAYA:--Banglamung District Officials set-up a checkpoint inside Soi Khopai in South Pattaya on Thursday evening and arrested 60 people who failed roadside drug tests and were in possession of drugs.

The area is well known for high levels of illegal drug activity and over 100 people were stopped in the street, many on motorbikes, and subjected to body searches and urine tests. 59 of the arrestees failed the urine tests, confirming recent ingestion of Methamphetamine and 1 was caught with a small quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine.

The Officials confirmed recent orders given to them by the Provincial Governor which required them to become more involved in suppressing crimes and use their powers as district officers,
