colinp
Tried searching but can't seem to find relevant information. My wifes boss has asked her to find out about employing a foreigner but is worried about the cost of a work permit. What is the cost of a work permit? Is it renewed yearly? Thanks
Mario2008
A work permit costs 3,000 baht a year (plus 100 for the application, so 3,100) and can be renewed every year.
colinp
Appreciate the quick response. Is a yearly work permit the longest available? Does the thai ministry of labour have a website that explains the procedures and costs (no problem if its thai only)?

WP is normally one year but may be longer or shorter depending on your work/employment type/qualifications for example if your contract is shorter or your professional qualifications expire during the year. Some Labour Departments have been known to issue two year or longer validity WPs depending on specific cicumstances (Fee 6,100 THB). Colabamumbai
You can offer to pay it for your boss. Some businesses ask the employee to pay for it. Many schools require that you pay for it.
