No surprises there. New BEVs for less than 2nd hand ICEVs, with higher cost to operate & maintain, and poor performance. Pretty much a no brainer. Can't wait till the BEV Pick ups hit the market next year. ICEV auto makers will be taking a big dive down in sales, the next couple years, as people replace their older pick ups. -

Who cares? If people can afford to pay for cars and/or have a good credit rating, then they will buy cars. And if they can't afford them and/or have a bad credit rating, then they won't buy cars. That seems to me very reasonable. -

"the response she obtained from the local office of the Thai Revenue Department (TRD) was I did not need to file a tax return and hence not need a tax ID". That sort of response from TRD staff is dangerous, unless they already understand your tax position completely. It will not be any kind of defense in the future if TRD decides to investigate some aspect of your financial affairs, I personally would not accept that sort of dismissive atitude. -

I presume most of those people are from the 1st world where they often suffer steep inflation(rising cost of sustaining basic life) in recent years. Compared to that, Thai inflation is at moderate level(2.3% in August). And with or without current price hikes in the west, overall living cost here is a lot lower(always has been) than back home. So WHY NOT? Unless they experience something horrible during first months of their stay here. -
