I am nipping back to the UK to apply for another Non Imm B visa. I initially arrived with a 3 monther which will expire before work gets the work permit finalised so need to apply for another.

I know I don't need to go all the way back to the UK, it just so happens I have to head over there anyway, and so am killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

I had planned on dropping the appplication off at the Consulate in Glasgow and getting it sent Special Delivery back to my mothers house, but noticed that they allow you to book an appointment and apply in person in Hull. They reckon that they will turn around an appilcation in 30 mins..

So, my question is this. Does anyone know if this turn-around time applies to all visa types or only Tourist applications.

I did an O Visa (Marriage) last July and it took them about 10 minutes. Had to call the day before for an appointment but that didn't seem to be too much of a problem - told them what time was good for me and they said that was fine.

Sounds promising then. Since I have to call to make the appointment anyway, will double check before headind down South.

I went in person about 10 months ago after making an appointment. Took about 40 minutes to get my Non Imm O but only because there were 3 other applicants at the same time. Very good service.

OK, I had a very helpful person at Hull, Pauline, have a look at all the supporting documentation and confirm that they could turn me around in 30 mins.

UK here I come....

I have no experience of B visas from Hull but other postal application visas from my experience are turned around immediately by post. They almost always send back on day received by special delivery. Unless you're in a real hurry or your application needs you to be there in person, then I'm not sure the trip from Scotland is worth it.
