Royal Thai Consulate Los Angeles

Featured Replies

On the new Los Angeles website says:

NO MULTIPLE-ENTRY NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS FOR TEACHING, VOLUNTEERING, WORKING WITH NGO, STUDY MUAY THAI/DIVE SCHOOL/MASSAGE/MEDITATION. Applying for a multiple-entry visa will only delay your application while you send a new money order for a single-entry visa.

Non-immigrant visas will not be issued for such purposes as tourism, visiting friends, visiting fiancé/fiancée, seeking employment opportunities, looking for a school for teaching or studying purposes, etc.

and

$80 for a single-entry , $200 for a multiple-entry. - No single-entry Non-Immigrant O-A Visas

No multiple entry visa for Teaching or volunteering? No Single entry O or A?

Not very friendly is it. It is best to use use an honorary consulate. Contact info here http://thaiembdc.us/wordpress1/

Maybe not very friendly, but in line with current policy set by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs to reduce the number of multiple non-immigrant visas for mentioned categories.

The days of applying to Honorary Consuls, if you are not in their coverage area, are, I'm afraid, gone. They were being inundated with just such requests, and the MFA decided to make applicants apply to the Consul, honorary or not, in their own area.

The fact that the LA Consulate's website is being updated should be viewed as a good thing. And the fact that they are in line with the MFA policy is also refreshing. In the past, they unilaterally decided things like no multi-entry O-A visas, which was clearly ridiculous. Since His Excellency Damrong Kraikruan took over, many things have improved there.

OP: My advice (since you didn't state your situation) is to call them, and speak with the farang that works in the visa section. He will help you if he can.

Can you supply a link to information that shows what the areas of responsibility are for the Honorary consulates are. I have been on the Embassy and consulate websites and been unable to find this information. The Chicago consulate mentions the honorary consulate in Oklahoma as an option for those being served by them.

My situation is none, since I am already have yearly extension but I was disappoint with the fact they would not any longer issue Non Imm O multiple entry visa. My last two visa's have been Non Imm O Multiple entry and price change was another disappointment.

New visa fees show up on other consulate and embassy websites. It is a lot higher than current exchange rate (31 verses 25 baht to the $) for 2000 or 5000 baht official fees elsewhere.

On what basis were you getting the non-o.
