I got a few friends coming over on or around Xmas or New years eve, I was wondering if anyone knows any half decent hotels in Chaweng for around 1500-2500 baht a night. I was sort of thinking near Soi Reggae where I stayed before would be good. I know its double the price at that time but they are insisting on staying in Samui around this time and Im just trying to save them a few bucks. Also how often do the ferries/longtails or speedboats go to Koh Pangyang and how long do they take?

Also they will be going to Kanchanaburi, if anyone knows some reasonably priced places there too it would be a great help

As for getting to KP lots of options, easy to do from various places in Ban Rak or Maenam (Lomprayah). Return trip 500 baht or less. Most boats go to Tongsala, the Haad Rin Queen goes to Haad Rin....

If going to FMP in Haad Rin, there are various speed boats that will take you there and back, for about 1000 baht same night return.
