PATTAYA:--Another illegal call centre has been shut-down by local Police in Huoy Yai on the outskirts of Pattaya.

On this occasion Taiwanese Nationals were behind the operation situated in a large plot of land with three houses on it, all of which were used as call centres. To ensure Police could enter the houses without incident, they used local government workers who were collecting refuse fees to assist Police to enter the houses.

Telephones and computers were seized, as revealed by Police Major General Jumnong, Chonburi Provincial Police Commander, who oversaw the operation. A total of 12 Taiwanese and Thai nationals were arrested and the foreign suspects claimed they were only tourists and were not working in the call centre. Checks were made on their visas and it was determined that six of them had entered on special medical visas which entitle them to come to stay in Thailand for medical reasons.
