craigt3365
I've heard great things about this island. Was suppose to go last weekend, but didn't make it. Sand flies can be a problem, but aren't always...and the locals have some kinda coconut oil mix that helps. edwinclapham
I have been going to Koh Mak since I was a toddler. I love this piece of paradise and although there are now numerous resorts to stay on, I usually stay on Koh Mak Resort.. http://www.kohmakresort.com/home.html This resort is another relative of Koh Mak resort and it is also excellent. German/Thai run http://www.goodtime-resort.com/ Most of the resorts are "family related" As Craig says coconut oil usually does the trick... also Avon "Go So Soft" oil is excellent for sand flies and mossies. There are no ATM's on the island. Enjoy. Edited June 1, 2012 by edwinclapham

BigRick
Koh Mak rocks It is beautiful but also remember it is June now so it is "green" "low" season. We stayed at the Koh Mak Holiday beach resort. I liked it a lot not as fancy as the Koh Mak resort but a lot more personal feeling the family that runs the place is great and it has a nice deserted island that you can practically walk too towards evening. The sand flies are vicious they truly are but if that was the only thing to worry about then its not a bad place. It is a lot safer than most islands low density traffic flat surfaces paved roads. I explored every nook and cranny on that island it is stunning.
