How's that "reconciliation" working out for you?

If the topic raises as much ire in the Thai community as it does here on TV in the farang community, I'm surprised the entire country hasn't erupted into civil war. And the farang don't even have a dog in the fight! 330 posts in the thread and no end in sight.

I think you will find it does raise as much if not more ire in Thai community, this is why you have the numbers joining demonstrations and many others support it financially.

In many cases though, i believe a large majority of Thai's do not even know the events, because they do not read the papers and usually watch either sports or soap opera's

Yep let me spell it out for you as it applies directly to you M-U-P-P-E-T-T biggrin.png

D'oh!

I think you should go back to Sesame Street, at least until your education level is raised enough to spell the words you wish to use to insult the intelligence of others.

The problem is people cannot behave in a sensible way.

Many posters on here are making silly posts because a previous poster has made a spelling mistake. There is no understanding that not everyone that posts on here uses English as there first language even my American friends spell differently to me but that does not mean they are wrong. Or maybe they think there are more than 1 way to solve a problem and there usually is. Until everyone speaks and writes (both politicians and TV members) from what they believe and not what is in there best interest the world will always have huge problems.

I am sorry, but what a load of rubbish!bah.gif

If one chooses to insult someone, that person should at least have enough brain cells and intelligence to spell the insult correctly, irrespective of his/her background or where he/she comes from.

... the single greatest unknown in all of this is where the Royal Thai Army stands ... two revealing articles below describe their recent movements ... seems they are patiently waiting for the Phue Thai to mess up badly enough that the Red's ranks fracture (signs of which are now appearing) ... they appear to positioning themselves to step in and once again 'save the nation' ... fascinating reports requiring little reading between the lines ... pay particular attention to the backgrounds of the two authors (former US Army officers who graduated from the Royal Thai Army's Command and General Staff College), whose ability to analyze the Thai army's motives, and whose access to authoritative Thai military views might be unique amongst conventional media ... really good stuff here.

"The farang" is a lot in the fight already.....Thailand is very rich on oil and gas in the gulf. From Koh Samui to Malaysia you can almost jump from one platform to the other. Up is the dispute with Cambodia about the sea borders.

All the major and minor powers, USA, UK, France, Singapore, China are pulling the strings in the background. Both Abhisit and Thaksin can't do anything without them agree. But PAD or a military dictator would be a big disturbance of these deals (unless they have already made deals as well).

The Joe Farang Englishteacher has as little to say as Somchai Somtamseller. They are not even ants in that fight of Elephants.....

The states is not a Democracy it is a Republic. You need to read up on reality. In a Democracy the majority of the people win. Even though a lot of the votes are paid cash for their vote.

Being a republic isn't exclusive of being a democracy.

It is in this case.

The average, normal family may listen to all, but it is a travesty, to convince them that one man is going to come back and save them! What this country needs, is a fair chance to prosper and develop, without all the profits going to the Govt.

aka Pheu Thai Party aka Thaksin Shinawatra

Google is everyone's friend. If I have any doubt there is a little box at the top of my screen that will not only give me correct spelling but allow me to check if I am using the word appropriately. I don't normally comment on someone's spelling mistakes unless I find something comical, making such a mistake while disparaging another's intelligence is at least amusing.

Yingluck pretends she's above it all, but her hands are as grime-encrusted as anyone else's (except her brother's hands, which also have blood on them).

Both of them will have cash-covered hands if the reconciliation bill is passed and Thaksin receives his 46 Billion Baht and Yingluck receives her 900 Million Baht.

These people are proto-fascists who want a largely appointed--rather than elected--parliament

No, they don't.

This old chestnut just won't go away. Dam_n Sonthi or whoever it was who flew this kite from the PAD stage. The PAD press statement from 2008 denying it's their policy has been posted in thaivisa so many times that only newbies and trolls could be unaware of it.

http://pad.vfly.net/...n-new-politics/

Worth repeating when it's dredged up again.

Thanks for posting for the benefit of the latest newbies and trolls.

I think Jutaporn is wright

completely ignoring the typos, the phrase,

I think Jatuporn is right

is not one that is encountered very often in any form of communication.

IMHO if Jatuporn says coup one more time, some might start to mistake him for a pigeon.

Buchholz, i think it has got to the point where going through and correcting errors, lies and mistruths, on this thread and a few others, is a cause in vain. You are swimming against an almighty tide of incoming BS.

Note the last paragraph: The proposal on the PAD stage of a 70 : 30 ratio of public representatives to elected representatives is merely an example of how the old-style politics should be replaced and is open to discussions. It is not a fixed formula advocated by the PAD. We are ready for a discussion from all sides on designing new politics and will respect the majority decision for new politics that is ethical, moral, and more representative of the varied social sectors to go in line with the lifestyles and culture of Thailand but still upholding democracy under a Constitutional Monarchy.

Is the 70:30 PAD proposal that much different from the 75:25 party list scheme/scam now in effect which allows PTP to appoint 60+ persons to MP positions with no apparent discrimination as to their worthiness as representatives of the people of Thailand.

From this group we have a PM with no political experience who eschewes parliament attendance/debate, and a substantial group of people either previously convicted of or facing charges of political violence.

I don't think so. Foreign companies are in Thailand to make money and could care less who is in power. They will have to pay licensing fees, taxes, wages, materials and tea money regardless of who is in office. What they do want is stability and no disruption in their operations, like when the airport gets shut down.

Very true, but do keep in mind that government can be pro western and anti.

Some make it for easy for foreign investments and company's and others do otherwise.

I believe it was Thaksin who introduced street closures to test every single person(example's Nana in BKK use to get closed off and every single person lined up for a drug test, including foreigners), thankfully this practice has stopped, and now they only drug test the locals and staff.

It was also Thaksin who initiated visa changes, making it harder and harder to get a visa

I know these are small factors, but are part of the larger picture in my opinion

I'm usually against mobs like these but in this case, good show Yellow Shirts!

Thats all it is "A good show", just little kids playing little kids games, the Beatles I think sang about it, "all the people making nowhere plans, in this nowhere land" this crap will go on and on and on, till there is the final battle, oh and what a battle it will be. This is the only way this country will move forward, a complete and final cival war to the very end.

Hail the Red Shirts!!!thumbsup.gifclap2.gifbeatdeadhorse.gifWPFflags.gifpost-4641-1156694005.gif1zgarz5.gif

What Jingoism!!

Northern red shirts attend rallies because they are paid. They are fully aware of Thaksin's misdemeaners...and that of most politicians and other government people disregarding the party. They are not stupid...It seems only farang think they are stupid...They aint gonna fight no civil war because of ethics and they aint gonna fight no civil war for 500 Baht..Stop trying to stoke a fire where none exists..

See how uninformed you are

I live amoungst them and have no idea what the cartoon was supposed to represent in terms of this discussion..

However, I do know that this week the government is tempting the farmers to take out more loans they can't afford to pay back...AGAIN!!

..

"Oh but Mr Thaksin helped me build a new house"......Except that you no longer own the land its on!!!

So perhaps you are right..Civil war may be the answer...but whose side will the farmers be on??

you make my point "what a load of rubbish" does not mean very much. If you had said I was wrong because .............. that might be helpful.

Why would you choose to insult anyone. Why not further your point of view with an intelligent response if you can. Insults never win arguments.

clearly it does not mean much to you, just as your post has nothing to do with the thread, just as well as your questions raised.

As for furthering point of view with intelligent response, i am yet to read one from you on the topic at handthumbsup.gif

IMHO many people will see this a having very little to do with them even if it comes to fighting. Others will be inclined one way or the other, but without sufficient motivation to actually do anything, and others while highly motivated will temper their ardour with the thought that taking a knife to a gunfight is pretty stupid.

In Sumatra there is a monument to an Indonesian that was so incensed that the Japanese had invaded that he attacked a patrol with a length of bamboo. It marks his grave.

Not keen on democracy then?

Ahhh democracy, you mean like the ethnic cleansing of the Bosnian Croats in (what was) Yugoslavia. I mean, the Serbs were the clear majority and they wanted those Croatians gone, and who can argue against democracy... right?

Mob rules, ain't it wonderful. Cheers to the highbrow Western ideals.

Just wait till he gets back this time. He has a lot of scores to settle with those countries that wouldn't let him in. I guess the UAE and Montenegro will get visa waivers for life and the Brits, Europeans and Americans...well lets just say if he gets back we are well and truly screwed.

It would be difficult to be balanced when comparing the violence from both sides when it so different in both quantity and intensity.

Nice of you to admit you could be wrong, as you usually are.

It would be difficult to be balanced when comparing the response of the army when it was so different in both quantity and intensity.
