PM Yingluck follows up on environmental rehabilitation program

PHAYAO, 3 June 2012 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has taken on an inspection trip to get updated on the environmental rehabilitation program in the North.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Deputy PM Yongyuth Wichaidit on Sunday traveled to northern Phayao Province on an inspection trip and to follow up on the progress of the Kwan Phayao water retention capacity-upgrading project.

PM Yingluck stated that, with appropriate budget allocation to rehabilitate the environment and prevent possible future impacts, the area will be useful as a fishery and farming source for locals.

Concerning the inspection of waterways to be used as flood passage, the Premier said that related ministers will soon be assigned to follow up on the drought and flood handling measures being implemented, before she makes the visit later.

Energy Regulatory Commission sets funds for community development

BANGKOK, 3 June 2012 (NNT) - Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission Direk Lavansiri has made known the commission’s support to the Power Development Fund’s plans for the year 2012.

The plan involves development of communities surrounding seven power plants located in several provinces, such as Ratchaburi, Songkhla, and Suphan Buri. Among the target power stations is Dan Chang Bio-energy Limited in Suphan Buri.

The fund set aside for the plan totals 235 million baht. The Energy Regulatory Commission will transfer an initial amount of 135 million baht to the Power Development Fund at the beginning of this month to enable those projects to get started.

Crown Prince to perform royal functions on Visakha Puja Day

BANGKOK, 3 June 2012 (NNT) – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will deputize for HM the King in officiating at religious ceremonies held in observance of Visakha Puja Day.

At 5 pm today HRH the Crown Prince is scheduled to proceed to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha to present Prayer Fans to ranking monks who have been promoted to higher ranks.

At 6 pm on 4 June, HRH the Crown Prince will lead members of the Royal Family and court entourage in the triple candle-lit circumambulation ceremony or wien-thien procession around the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

His Royal Highness will then present offerings consisting of monastic necessities to monks at a ceremony inside the Temple.
