Hallo to all you British, English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish and international fans of the German Team (have I forgotten anybody?),

Germany will start it's campaign against the strong Portugese team around superstar Ronaldo. Unfortunately the preparations of the German team for these championships did not run very smoothly as several Bayern Munich players missed some team practice due to their engagement in the European Club Championship.

But maybe the Gary Lineker words will become true again: Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win

Good luck Jogi Loew and the German National team!

I'll certainly be watching the German games, especially if Mertesacker and Podolski (Arsenal players) are given a shout (probably off the bench in the case of Mertesacker - I'm surprised you can't find anyone better for the squad). M needs game time and we Gunners want to see how P can fit in at the Emirates, with or without vanPersie.

Portugal is an attractive opener - what's your best guess on the starting 11 Lotus Blue?

I reckon Germany or Holland can take this cup in the absence of David Villa for Spain. France's defence is shambolic (Koscielny is good for Arsenal, but not as central defender, which is what Farnce needs most). Poor defence, good attack - will make France the most interesting team to watch.

And PS - don't give us any grief when we crash out at the group stage LB - we're $hit and we know we aretongue.png

Baring in mind the back up strikers Spain have Villa's absense will have little baring on their tournament. Moneys on France at 12/1 but i reckon the germans and spanish look very good. We'll have to wait and see if the Dutch come to play football or kick lumps out of the other side.

Llorente, Negrado and Torres - haven't looked at the stats but I'm guessing that they collectively have about half the goals that Villa has scored at international level. Villa is a proven forward who connects well with Fabregas and Iniesta. Just my opinion Carmine, which will be proven worthless if Torres suddenly rediscovers his early Liverpool form (and I would love to see that happening as long as he puts it back in the bag for Chelsea next season).

Sorry for hijacking the German thread with talk of Spain LB.

PS Llorentes is rumoured to be wanting a move to the Emirates. At last something of vague interest to put on the Gunners threadtongue.png .

Not on his wages he won't. thats just paper talk.

So where will van Persie be going anyway. Podolski is obviously in to replace him!

Hallo fans of The German Team,

congratulations for the 1 : 0 win over a strong Portugese team.

To be fair, it was not a good match by the German players. A lot of mistakes, hardly anything to be seen from Schweinsteiger. But how about superstar Ronaldo? Not much from him either.

The German team has to show a lot more if they want to have a chance on the title. It is a strong group as we have seen by the Danish 1 : 0 win over the Dutch team.

Nevertheless Germany has 3 points and that is what counts at the end.

Posted

...... enough times to make it an attacking spectacle worthy of it's participants and our expectationstongue.png .

A couple of excellent defensive displays there though I thought. Pepe and Meireles were awseome, and the German defence were hugely disciplined (can't see our Mertesacker getting any game time, save for injuries). Liverpool fans must be a bit peeved how well M has come on since he left Anfield.

Anyone who wants to watch the replay would do well to watch the first and last 20 minutes.

I was very disappointed with our new man Podolski - just seemed to want to blast 2 points for Wigan anytime he got the ball.

Can anyone explain why Ronaldo is so disappointing in a Portugal shirt. I guess he feels he's not being paid well enough, but he'll never be a true legend if he carries on like this.

Hallo fans and friends of Germany,

the second win for Germany at the EURO 2012. Congratulations to Jogi Loew and the German team for their 2 : 1 win over the Dutch team. The first 60 minutes Gremany was the better team, then the Dutch came back and marked their only goal. But Germany managed to defend their lead and now has 6 points on their account. This should be enough to reach the next round. On coming sunday Germany will play against Denmark that lost today by 2 : 3 against Portugal.

Germany was and is a tournament team, i.e. it gains strength during the competition.

All the best for the match against Denmark!

Master of the understatement LB ( a German trait just as much as a British one).

Germany were awesome for the first 60 minutes. Barcelona quality but far more direct. Had they kept that up for the full 90 the authorities might as well have given the cup to them at the end and let the others creep back home.

So, the big question for your group is, are the Germans going to soft-peddle the last game with Denmark so that both those teams go through and both teams avoid any exertions and injuries. One side of my family is German (not trying to attach myself to glory here!) and my observation about German culture is that 'the rules say you play to win', jah?

Shall we just hand the trophy to Germany now, cannot see who can stop them going all the way and win it.

I think a lot of us felt that zee Germans were the ones to beat in this competition and they have not disappointed.

Interesting to see how Spain will progress. France could also test them but their defence still looks fairly hopeless.

Don't sPEAK to soon!

Watching the Germans is like watching a poor England,i think we could beat them or bore them to death! now that would be something, the English boring the German's to death lol!

Hallo all,

congratulations to the German team for their hard fought 2 : 1 win over a strong Danish team. It was for sure not a glamorous win and Germany was at times at the brink of elimination. But now the German team is the only one to have gone through the first round with 3 wins, i.e. 9 points.

Coming Friday it will be the match against the Greek team. This will not be an easy match as all teams that reached the quarter-finals are quite strong. But Germany is undeniable the favourite for this match and should have enough quality in its ranks to advance further. But one never knows what can happen, see the (favourite) teams from the Netherlands (being vice world champions and returning back home with zero points) or Russia.

Auf geht's Buam! (Let's go boys)

And the German team marches on!

A very good 4 : 2 win over the defensive Greek team. Excellent team work and a convincing win. Coach Jogi Loew changed (never change a winning team!) the team on 4 positions. And he was right again. This German team is a very young with excellent subtitute players.

Actually is was the 15th consecutive win in an official match which means world record.

With these players Germany has excellent chances for the remaining tournament.

Looking forward to the match against either England or Italy.

Germany want it all, Germany want it now!

No sh1t Sherlock!!!!! The only other side that has the creative potential to upset one of those two is France and to be fair, they have been very average so far. Italy's best hope is playing for penalties every game but then again they'll bottle that too.

Well I am hoping for a shock win for France tonight. I think it would do Spain good to lose for once. I mean what sort of team plays without a striker? Most people seem to have written France off since they sucked against Sweden but they rank second only to Spain in terms of shots at goal, shot on target and fewest shots conceded per game.

Yes they can turn it on when the mood suits and they have players of real quality to rise to the occasion. There has to be more to come from the likes of Nasri, Benzema, Ribery etc....

germany are looking formidable mate, hard to see a weakness in them really. goals throughout the team, playing really well as a unit, defence looking steady. germany - spain should make a great final in theory.

Hallo to all my dear British fans,

that was a really interesting match tonight. And it was a deserved win for the Italian team by penalty shhotout against a very passive English team. Italy had numerous chances but missed them all in the regular time and in overtime.

It will not be easy for Germany on coming Thursday keeping in mind that Germany NEVER (!) won in a big tournament against the Italians.

But the present German team is very strong and has a good chance especially with view that it had 2 more days to rest and Italy had to play 120 minutes today.

Come on Germany, end the loosing streak against Italy!
