QUETTA, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least fifteen people were killed on Thursday when a powerful bomb exploded outside a Sunni Muslim seminary in western Pakistan, police said on Friday. Nearly 50 others were injured.

The blast happened when an explosive device attached to a bicycle exploded near the Balochistan University in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. It occurred near the Jamia Islamia Maftah-ul-Uloom seminary, where students had gathered for a graduation ceremony.

"The remote-controlled bomb which was detonated by the terrorists targeted the students at the madrassa (religious school)," a local police source said on Friday. He said at least fifteen people were killed while 48 others were injured, some of whom remained in a serious or critical condition on early Friday afternoon.

At least five children between the ages of 6 and 8 were among those killed, the Daily Times newspaper reported.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Nothing new really ,with the different Islamic factions foundered in the bronze age who are quite content to blow each other to pieces (Ala Iraq) including non combatant Civilians and Children ,and all for what ?,any one out there got a valid explanation?or for that matter even an opinion?

Yep must be bronze age, even the Romans had devised sponges on sticks with which to wipe their <deleted>. It's just a shame that their available weaponry stretches to explosives as the kill rate would be reduced somewhat if bronze arrows and axes were state of the art..

Wonder what your reaction would be if it was 15 people in Kent.................

Your comments are pathetic.

Yeah Nice one ,our opinions are pathetic?? ,and yet you do not render yours, maybe you approve of their methods to gain religious supremacy cos in essence that,s all it is pure and simple, the Sunni's and the Shia's have been slaughtering each other like sheep for years with no end in sight , one only has to look at Iraq , in closing if you agree with this unwarranted act of barbarism were they murder women and young Children merely because of their different sect just say so ,personally I condemn it unreservedly smile.png Edited by Colin Yai

Colin is correct that religious factionalism plays a central role in this type of violence. The fact this latest attack, like so many others, takes place outside a mosque is no coincidence. It is a tragic waste of young lives, lives which could be better spent working on the nation's infrastructure and development projects.

Part of the problem of any religion when introduced as a compulsory, daily and intense schedule, is that it erodes the human personality-forming ability and makes the individual feel insignificant and basically disposable. This is especially true if the instruction starts at toddler-age. Islam gets most of the flak, but imo all religion when taken in excess suppresses the individual's notion of self-worth and liberty. In England Christianity used to be tyrannical and horrific, because it saturated daily life and the state-legislature. Now that Christianity is very casual, go to church on Sunday if you feel like going, it has become completely peaceful in England, a faith you can choose to believe if you want and to practise on your own terms. But this same religion used to torture and kill thousands back when it was a mandatory part of daily life.

Religion is ironically the same as drinking in that its extremely dangerous when done to excess, but a couple of beers with friends now and then doesn't hurt anyone.
