Exiting Chiang Mai Or Phuket

If I fly out of Bangkok I can leave one day later than my exit stamp. Is this the same at Phuket and chiang Mai. I knowitsat immigration officers discretion. But does anyone have first hand experience

You get 24 hours free overstay at all airports. They will put a small stamp in your passport stating that you overstayed less than 24 hours.
