gennisis
My hearing is not good. ...My TV has rear facing speakers...so the sound is bounced off the wall 4" away. and is 'fuzzy'...I did try to pull the TV set as for away from the wall as I could with some improvement. Does it seem practical to remove the speakers and with a bit or rewiring ,replace them on the wall facing outwards and towards me? I know TV audio is never that good but I dont want to employ additional speakers or cinema type set up.
petertucker48
Does the TV have audio out. If it does get a low output amp and use headphones its another new world. Don't worry about what other people think. Your Tv your enjoyment matters.

astral
Don't try removing the speakers unless you really know what you are doing. Better to use audio out and a small amp with separate speakers as Petertucker suggests, or take Tramsam's suggestion and go the whole hog
Dork
You could try putting some sound absorbent material on the wall behind the TV. That should improve the clarity of the sound and allow you to increase the volume without that awful reasonance you get from concrete walls. Many simple materials could do the job but an easy & cheap solution would be rockwool insulation covered with any old fabric.
