Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 19-year-old man from Chaiyaphum died after his motorcycle went out of control at a railway crossing and slid under a pickup truck, police report. The crash occurred around 16:30 on 23 August at a railway crossing in Moo 7, Khlong Preng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chachoengsao. Rescue workers and doctors from Phutthasothon Hospital were called to the scene. The victim, identified as Mr. Phatthananon, suffered severe injuries to the back of his head and neck, with tyre marks found around his throat. Locals had tried to help and performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His motorcycle was found some distance from the scene, along with his mobile phone still displaying a GPS application. Witnesses suggest the teenager may have been unfamiliar with the area and may have been looking down at his phone while riding up the incline at the railway crossing. The driver of the grey Toyota Hilux pickup, Mr. Ittirit, 57, told police that the motorcycle lost balance while climbing the slope and slid under his vehicle before he could brake in time. A passenger in the pickup helped residents lift the victim from under the truck in an attempt to save him. Police are investigating the incident and took the driver in for questioning. The body of the victim has been taken to Phutthasothon Hospital and authorities have contacted his family to arrange for funeral rites. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-08-25 -

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Police have arrested a 35-year-old man from Rayong Province for manufacturing and selling firearms online. The suspect, identified as Sittipong, reportedly converted BB guns into fully functioning firearms, operating the illegal enterprise for nine months. The operation came to light when the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) of Bangkok Metropolitan Police received intelligence regarding the sale of firearms and ammunition through online channels. Officers from CSD Task Force 4 arranged a controlled purchase, leading to the arrest of Sittipong outside a coffee shop in Chanthaburi on 23 August at approximately 17:50. Police subsequently searched the suspect’s residence and seized multiple modified firearms, including: • One 9mm BAREDDA Z88 and one 9mm BAREDDA C85, each with magazines • Ammunition, including .380 calibre rounds • Gun barrels, drill presses, grinders, a Bosch drill and other specialised tools for firearm fabrication According to authorities, Sittipong admitted to producing the weapons out of personal interest in firearms, selling each for 8,000 baht. He faces several charges, including the illegal manufacture, modification and sale of firearms and ammunition, as well as possession of unlicensed weapons. The suspect has been transferred to Tha Mai Police Station in Chanthaburi for legal proceedings. Police emphasised that the arrest highlights ongoing efforts to curb the illegal arms trade, particularly the online sale of firearms. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-08-25 -
