Let me try and help you here but I must confess I've been on the vodka.

Englands group consisted of England,France, Sweden and the Ukraine, that means 4 teams in the group, each team play each other ONE time only which according to me means 3 games per team in this group, if one team wins all games then 3 points per game = a maximum of 9 points.

England drew against France= 1 point

England beat Sweden = 3 points

England beat Ukraine = 3 points.

1+3+3= 7 points and England came top of their group.
