ripstanley
The Customs duty is 60% plus 7% GST. There are certain trade treaties which lowers the import duty. There are also added factors to determine what the actual cost of the beer. Have a look at the Thai customs site. http://igtf.customs.go.th/igtf/en/main_frame.jsp this gives the rate http://www.customs.go.th/wps/wcm/connect/custen/traders+and+business/customs+valuation/gatt+valuation/gatt

ripstanley
An excise is a tax on goods produced within the country. It does not apply to imported goods. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excise

jalansanitwong
Dont even think about importing beer into Thailand its almost as much a nightmare as importing a luxury car. I used to bring in cosmetics but only in small quantities and i had a 'Thai connection' at the mail center. I know Koreans who got into fist fights with Thai officals at the airport over ....no cosmetic licence ha ha ! pay 100,000 baht now!!....one box of lousy cosmetics. Forget beer. Some farangs thought they were clever by bringing in brewery kits from Germany,Aust USA in personnal luggage . Where are they now ???
