Comments;

Lotus TV movies are surprisingly quite good. Window on right side of website is online video of current movie/content. Schedule underneath.

And, other free channels have a goodly amount of news and documentary.

Equipment required to view this is a C-band dish aimed at Asiasat 3S and a simple receiver.

Cheers

To add some information:

NOW TV has c. 50% English language programme, mainly sports events, computer gaming and entertainment.

Isaac TV has c. 25% English language Christian programme.

K2 has occasional English language movies with Pakistani subtitles, but I‘ve not been able to find a schedule.

TV5 Asie has lots of documentaries with English subtitles.

If anyone knows some good subscription option for the Fox or Star package for not more than $20 that‘d be extremely great.

Greetings from Phnom Penh and Happy New Year!

Jan,

Happy New Year to you, also.

Regarding satellite subscription, would offer that Vietnam based providers seem to be economical options. AVG, K+, and VTC Digital. But, I think you would also have to buy a receiver married to the subscription card.

I can get a Vietnamese 1 year subscription for around $700 to $900 in PP, not attached to a receiver. I suspect the importer makes good money with that...

Maybe VN visa plus a day bus trip to HCMC is cheaper.

Should I ever do that trip and find out anything, I‘ll update this thread.

Jan,

Thanks. Would be interested in what you find out, if you make that trip.

There are also shops here in Thailand that offer the Vietnam based subscriptions/receivers. Also, Malaysian, Indonesian, and Myanmar based subscriptions/receivers. But, the Vietnam subscriptions seem to be lesser. Probably, because of the competition among the three services in Vietnam.

Cheers

Some update on free channels:

Zhwandoon TV, an Afghan channel, has recently been added on Asiasat. They have a few English language shows, including an episode of the epic series "THE SIMPSONS" every day at 18:30. :-)
