January 12, 200620 yr MoF to issue Bt2 bn in 5-year govt savings bonds BANGKOK: -- The Finance Ministry announced on Thursday that it plans to issue Bt2 billion in 5-year government savings bonds this month will pay a coupon of 5.5 per cent. The coupon rate for the bonds, to be offered January 16-25, represents a premium of 26 basis points to the government bond yield curve as of Wednesday. The bonds will constitute the sixth tranche of Bt30 billion of savings bonds meant to be issued between last August and July next year. The ministry sold Bt2 billion of seven-year bonds last month with a coupon of 6.3 per cent. The ministry plans to offer Bt2 billion of savings bonds each month from last October until July. The maturities of the offerings will continue to alternate between five and seven years. Kasikornbank Plc (KBANK) will underwrite all the offerings. --The Nation 2006-01-12
