SwaziBird
Perhaps someone can help shed some light on this small problem I'm having. I have a pair of bedside lamps which I brought from o/seas and which use the bayonet fitting incandescent filament type globe. I have tried 3 shops to find replacement globes without success. Only a very few of these old style globes appear on the shelves and then they are all of the screw-type fitting. So in this enlightened age I am living in the dark. Can anyone suggest where I might find the bayonet fitting globes - or an adapter. Perhaps they're simply not available at all in LOS. I know I could scour the electrical shops in a quest to find these globes but I am hoping someone's directions might be helpful. Thank you. Cheers. uptheos
Coming from town, at the end of Changklan Rd near the river, instead of going under the bridge, take the right turn in the road. Up on the left hand side you will see a little sell all kind of electrics shop. She has bayonet fitting bulbs. OK let me clarify that; she definitely had bayonet fitting bulbs 100 and 60 watt last April 2012.
cmsally
I still have some bayonet lights and get bulbs from a friend who has an electric shop on Tapae Rd. Although if from the UK I noticed they have short bayonet and long bayonet; I'm pretty sure the bayonet ones here are long type. Elec shop I go to is approx opposite Krungthai / Thanachart Banks Tapae Rd
bobl
I bought some bulbs without thinking a few months back, and when I got them home was dismayed to find they were BC while my fitting was ES (opposite to your problem). Exchanged them no problem. I think I got them in the big Tesco Lotus on the ring road but wouldn't like to guarantee that... Might be better off getting your appliances refitted with ES holders (should be easy to find at any electrical hardware store)...
ARISTIDE
You may need to bring the picture of what you want i.e "bayonet type fitting light bulb" (very busy place and I don't think anyone speaks English) and go to this place google map 18.78025,98.986371 (Every one goes there, if they don't have it then it's getting difficult) Edited July 6, 2012 by ARISTIDE

Maejo Man
The 'lamp shop' on Wualai Rd (Saturday Walking Street) have them. Strange place for light bulbs. Not withstanding the fact that they actually sell light bulbs. they are probably the busiest electrical shop in Chiangmai.....BC, SBC, ES SES and just about any other configuration of socket/lamp you could think of. The only drawback is parking. Unless on a bike, you are better off to park on the main road and walk down as it's not far.

They used to have a car park on the vacant lot across the road, a few metres towards Airport. Or maybe that lot is no longer vacant, it's been a while..... SwaziBird
ThaiVisa members - please take a bow ! Great and very helpful information for which I am most grateful. Had tried 3 major shops (admittedly not electrical specialists) without any success. Thank you. Cheers.

trainman34014
If you fail with all that has been suggested, there is a shop that has them on 108 just past Kad Farang on the left hand side. It's almost opposite a Kodak shop.
Beetlejuice
Why not just change the light bulb holders on the lamps to the screw in types? These are sold virtually everywhere, in all the big stores, hardware and electrical shops. I recommend Global house, millions of them in there and by changing the holders, would certainly make buying the bulbs much easier, probably cheaper and able to use the fluorescent type screw in light bulbs.

I doubt if it would make buying the bulbs cheaper. Just yesterday I bought several bayonet style bulbs. 60 and 100 watt; 9 Baht per bulb!
