Where in Japan?

If you cannot find a tutor with professional knowledge / skills in teaching (Thai) language, suggest you contact some local universities in Japan to see if you can contact any Thai students.

I worked in Japan about 5 years, at that time there was a sizeable number of Thai students in Uni on various scholarships.

One possible downside, uni student probably wouldn't know a proper methodology for language teaching.

Some good course books could overcome this up to a point. AUA seem to have a good reputation for Thai language teaching, maybe they would sell you just the course books.
