Police have launched an urgent manhunt for the main suspect, a motorcycle taxi driver who was last seen with the victim. The disturbing case has sent shockwaves through the local community as authorities race to uncover the full truth behind the crime. The elderly resident had last been seen leaving her home on a motorcycle taxi, sparking immediate concern from her family, who feared for her safety. She had taken with her 10,000 baht in cash, a gold necklace weighing 5 baht, a gold ring weighing 2 salung, and a sacred amulet, with the total value amounting to about 250,000 baht. After being untraceable for days, police focused on tracking the last known phone signal. Detectives from the Nakhon Si Thammarat City Police Station pinpointed the signal to the vicinity of Therdphra Kiat Road. Alongside this lead, they stumbled upon a suspicious scene, drag marks edging into a dense field of reeds. Following these traces, officers discovered a white sack from which a heinous odor emanated. Opening it revealed the grim find: the elderly woman, lifeless, curled face down inside. Authorities summoned a team including Deputy Commander Pol. Col. Sutthas Sangsayam and forensic experts to examine the site, confirming later it was indeed the missing woman, dead for an estimated three days. Her family, already distraught, were dismayed to find all her valuables missing too. CCTV footage had captured the taxi driver with the victim, igniting suspicions of his involvement. The family has voiced frustrations, having previously scoured the area in despair and sought crucial CCTV evidence from nearby premises. A friend of the suspect described him as unstable, a known heavy drinker without a permanent address, who had made dubious claims about his whereabouts. Just before the body was discovered, the suspect called this friend from an alleged hideout on Koh Samui. At the scene, the medical examiner could not determine the precise cause of death, necessitating a further detailed autopsy to be conducted at Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital's forensic center.
