I just purchased a condo in Bangkok. My gf said I must register for a family book. What is it? What is the significance if gf is in family book at the condo address? Is it necessary for her neice to be in family book to go to school in Bangkok?

There are two types of home registers and you would be allowed a yellow one by law as a foreign owner of a condo. Most district offices seem to not know too much about them however so it may take both you and the GF some time to get it issued. For you it provides address confirmation when that is required for official documents but not much else. All Thai have to be listed on a home register and schooling and voting will be determined by where it is located.
