Thailand Seizes Half-Tonne Of Ivory From Kenya

The main drivers of this trade are the Chinese, you know, the world's oldest civilised people. With their gross pollution and gross destruction of wildlife, and their huge numbers, the Chinese are the most destructive collection of people on earth.

Of course, the Americans --- far more powerful per capita -- have a great deal to answer for in terms of destruction of the planet through gross over-use of resources, but they are very little responsible for shooting elephants.

For that, you have to look at the atavistic tastes of Asians, with the Chinese far and away the worst.

Thais people should stop blaming other nations for our illegal trades, this Ivories are seized in Thailand not China or Japan, this means Thais guys are involved. If Ivory is so important to China and Japan why are they not importing it directly to their country? When shall we learn to accept responsibility of our actions as a Nation??coffee1.gifcoffee1.gifcoffee1.gifcoffee1.gifcoffee1.gifcoffee1.gif

Some Thais and other nationalities will jump to opportunities to make money, and morals will take a back seat. As to your other question about importing; it's often easier and cheaper to import through the back door, than through the front.

A sickening trade, how can people buy ivory?sad.pngbah.gifsad.png

For they do not realize I suppose, but how can people kill elephants angry.png

If no one bought the ivory there would´nt be any killiing of elephants.

Yes, but that's too simplistic. The Chinese, in particular, and Taiwanese, Japanese and others need to be sorely embarassed in to coming down hard on traffickers and end-users. As hard as they come down on hard drugs. They need to lose face in order to wake up to take action.
