Bringing Cat To Phuket From Usa

Featured Replies

I'm bringing my cat on Thai Airways from LA to Bangkok to Phuket in early Sept. I've tried to call the Department of Livestock Development to get the latest requirements, but no one seems to answer the phone. Their website has some conflicting stuff on it. One page about bringing in dogs and cats says you only need a health certificate and vaccinations, but another concerning live animal importation says you have to fill out some form 1/1 to get an import license.

Does anyone know the latest requirements about bringing a cat to Thailand? I know that there are existing posts about this topic, but they look like they are very old, so I just want to make sure I have the latest information. If there is anyone who has brought their pet recently, would love to hear their experience.

One thing is that I get in around 11pm in Bangkok and can't leave to Phuket until the next morning. I'd love to go get a hotel for the night, but I'm worried to go through customs in Bangkok because if my cat gets quarantined there and I have to go to Phuket, that sounds like a nightmare. Might be best for me to tough it out and stay in the airport all night? Let me know what you think. Thanks in advanced for the help!
