What To Do With A Big Collection Of Cds And Dvds?

Featured Replies

Since I've gone digital in my movie and music collection, I haven't watched a DVD for at least 2 years and I have a huge collection of hundreds of DVDs and CDs just taking up space. Most are legit or at least good coppies of many different generas ....some boxed sets, and I hate to see them go to waste.

Would be willing to sell the whole collection....[hundreds] for cheap or trade for ??, if anyone is interested......no 'cherry picking', all or nothing. Anyone interested, PM me.

Considered donating them to someone like Thai Freedom House?

Didn't they make a Christmas tree or some thing with them at the three kings or was it Thapa Gate can't remember. Old age.

I think it was Taipei gate, yes.

Just a suggestion.

Go to a 'garage sale'

I went to to the recent one at the Lanna school and sold a lot of my old DVD and CDs. Next one at Lanna school in November but I am sure that there are others

If you have time time and the inclination you can sell them there.

Good luck

Yes, Thapae Gate.

Have no idea why you would want to ask money for them, because they are all well passed they’re sell by dates?

Some years ago, like so many others, I had stacks of movies on VCR videotapes. Then when my VCR player went up to VCR heaven, I managed to acquire many of the movies and burn them onto CDs and later DVDs. Now these are all fading out of fashion and have most of my stuff is on flash drives.

I guess that most of the movies on your CDs and DVDS are not compatible with the new big HD widescreen TVs?

In the end I was not able to even give my old VCR tapes and CDs/DVDs away, no one wanted them and most of the motorbike tow trolleys down my way now have my old stuff tied onto them as used for light reflectors. They also make great hanging garden ornaments and table place mats.

If there is a lot of rare or collectable CD's you can always sell them singly and you will find collectors may be interested in paying good money for them because a lot of stuff is just no- longer available to download or to buy ( soul. jazz , blues etc is the stuff i look for, for example but others are interested in other particular fields ) but if it middle of the road stuff, and the DVDs, just donate it to a good charity.

I once sold 200+ vcd's for 4000 baht. (20,000 new)..this was right around the time DVD's in thailand started to go mainstream.

You'd be surprised who would buy them, in my case someone wanted them to keep their family busy, while they relocated to Korea. (english teacher)

Put them on craigslist, thaivisa classified, ajarn, baht sold , etc....and give it some time. Although being in BKK would make the sale easier.

I'd put them all onto a hard drive first if you can, you can use 'Super' video convertor to change the file format for smaller storage size.

make use of them ; stick some on a board and make a solar panel to power your new digital system; then stick one or two on your head as a solar panel for a sex machine (yes its an old joke but so are the cd,s)
