Money Transfer; Thailand-Philippines

Featured Replies

Is there a better way than Western Union to transfer small amounts (B7000) from Thailand to the Philippines?

Western Union has such high fees and gives such lousy exchange rates, I really hate to use them.

Thanks

You can send an Atm card of say Kasikorn if it,s a trusted party an then simply deposit here and they can instantly withdraw there...works like a charm.

If you're likely to be transferring regularly consider using Paypal. If you don't have one already, set up a Paypal account for yourself and link it do a credit card or debit card. Set one up for the person you're sending to in the Philippines as well and tell them to open a Union Bank Eon Cyber Account - they maybe need to deposit 500 Pesos to open the account. Once they get their Eon card through (around 3-5 days I think) link that card to their Paypal account (takes another few days) and you're ready to go. It takes about 2-4 days for the money to arrive but it seems you don't get raped too badly on fees and exchange rates and you can do it all from the comfort of your own armchair, unlike with Western Union who don't allow online transfers from Thailand.

Ask the first Filipino working there that you see. I suspect they can give you some advice. Check for a local woman "English" Teacher .
