So why would you think that the current Government with their Shiniwatra clan running the police and almost everything else now, would not charge any previous Government or Military personnel over the deaths. After all they could do, they are now the Government in power. It couldn't be because they would open Pandoras box now could it?

do you have any proof that the current government, as you put it - won't do that?

AFAIK, the DSI is not part of the elected government but part of the bureaucracy.

And how do you think the top bureaucrats are given their appointments - a Nationwide, unbiased and open recruitment system? Don't think so.

Enlighten us.

Not many people are privy to that information...............

"Well, for once theNation had it right, now didn't they"

Yes stunning journalism, they guaged the feelings just right, or do you think being told by the Defence what will happen is likely to have something to do with it?

Bangkok, Aug 7, 2012 (AFP) - The terrorism trial of Thai "Red Shirt" protest leaders in connection with deadly unrest in 2010 is expected to be postponed because some defendants have parliamentary immunity, the defence said Tuesday.

Twenty-three figures within the movement, including four serving lawmakers, are due to appear in a Bangkok court on Thursday, but defence lawyer Karom Polpornklang said the hearing would probably be pushed back. "Some of the defendants are lawmakers who have immunity.

This case cannot be done individually as all the defendants were charged together and the witnesses and evidence are the same," he told AFP. One option would be for the court to schedule a hearing for after the current session of parliament ends in late November.

Might be a few pointers in there, they can't be tried seperately, some of them have diplomatic status so the trial will have to wait until the end of the parliamentary session, yes, I think they could confidently predict the trial would be delayed.

And if they told the AFP, the Nation would have got wind of it..................coffee1.gif

Minor correction if I may, dear phiphidon.

The defence as quoted said "immunity" which translates to parliamentary immunity as some of the accused are constituency or party list MPs. None has 'diplomatic status' unless you are privy to secrets us normal mortals aren't even aware of wink.png

PPD aren't you the one that said in another post that the Dems (3 amigos who said that YS had a sexual encounter at the 4 seasons) are cowards because they would hide behind their immunity if the had to go to court for defamation?

(Maybe different wording but same meaning)

How about your Red heroes? What are they doing?

The difference is that the UDD members/PTP MP's have already faced up to the police at the beginning. The dems have ignored 2 maybe 3 now summonses and have never given themselves in to the police.

Evidence over the past 12 months would strongly indicate a degree of nepotism that almost all counties in the civilized world would abhor.

Truly sickening.

You are falsely attributing honourable characteristics to the PTP/red scum. They were charged before they became MPs and have since used their political immunity to avoid prosecution. That they were nominated as party list candidates while facing serious charges may still be a factor in PTP being disbanded.

Stop twisting man. Fact is that the red MPs didn't give up their immunity and therefor the court can't revoke their bail and therefor they are cowards too.

In an earlier decision, the court ruled to defer the bail hearing for five of the 24 defendants on grounds that they had parliamentary immunity.

The hearing for the five has been rescheduled to November 22, following the House adjournment.

While it might be interesting to take your claim and look at it in more detail - a true comparison would be very interesting - it doesn't address the simple clarification of robertson's and GJim's statements about the DSI.
