Searching For Long-Stay Accommodation

I've been finding it quite annoying searching for long-stay hotels due that a lot of them don't post their long-stay prices on their sites or even say whether or not they accept it. When I email the sites some say they do and some say they don't. I was wondering if anyone on the forums has found anything in my requirements or have had especially good/bad experiences anywhere. I'd prefer a hotel or something of the sort instead of an apartment so we don't have to commit and have all the paperwork and such.

I'm looking for long hotels/inns that meet these requirements:

Things that are NEEDED

- 4,000-10,000 baht per month

- GREAT internet connection in suite (most important).

- Preferably around the city center or on the western side of downtown.

- Pool and or gym on site.

- Somewhat clean, friendly staff, all those basics.

Things that are WANTED but aren't necessary:

- Restaurant in the hotel.

- Laundry service.

- Fridge.

- Nice area.

- Allow pets?

If anyone has found somewhere good for these things it would help so much!

Umm, if you don't want to commit how is it that you are claiming to be a long stay customer that gets the discounted price for...ah, long stay? Perhaps this could be your problem, can't have it both ways. Maybe try somewhere for a few days if happy then convert to a better rate for the remainder.

I think your most important item " great internet connection " is going to be hard to find. Over the years in all the areas of CM that I have stayed I have never had great internet connection. Now as a tennant in the house I purchased I am using 2 internet providers just to get half decent connections and speed. Good luck to you.

Good luck finding a hotel with a "GREAT internet connection in suite (most important)." Most hotels/apartments in C.M. have terrible Internet connections because so many people are on the network, equipment is poor and set up mickey mouse, over-loaded, etc.

Even finding a good Internet connection in a private residence can be difficult. I've been here 5 years, gone through 2 different companies, multiple plans, and just in the last 4 months have been able to use Skype sometimes after they re-wired the entire moobaan. I still can't watch youtube without it stopping, buffering, re-starting, etc. But I live in Sansai which is far away from the center. But even when I lived in the city I could not get a decent connection (like you are used to in Europe or America).

By "commit" I mean I don't want to sign a paper saying that I will stay for 6 months to a year. I'm not trying to rip people off to get the cheapest deals :/

I don't want to be frequently moving around as I will have a massive bag with me that I don't want to be carrying about. So hence why I am asking before hand so I can find somewhere great from the start that I could stay for a month then if I like it maybe longer.

So it's obvious that Thailand has internet problems, that aside I'm still looking for suggestions of places to stay?

Many of the long-stay places in that price range don't have fancy websites. It's rare for them to have pools and in-house gyms. Internet can be dicey.

I have a friend who comes every year for 2-3 months. She always gets a place just for a few days and walks the back sois between Thapae and Loi Kroh, which is full of guest houses. She looks at a few and always seems to find a great place, at a great rate, sometimes with good internet connection if a computer-geek is one of the owners. She's also gotten the dongle for 3G service from AIS and then she can use her computer all over town. For a gym -- we'll you can join the health club at Centara Duang Tawan for about 1000 baht per month -- it's in that neighborhood.

The OP is going to have to be creative to put together a package to get everything on the list within that budget. You're just don't find it all in one place for that budget.

As others have said, you won't get the best rates for under 12 months, reasonable for 6 months.

I stayed at Hauy Keaw Residence for 2 months a while back, and the internet was bad but I believe it's better now. they have a pool and not sure about a Gym.

I've been in Nakornping Condos for the past 6 months, and internet is privately arranged, as is TV. It's central, mostly nice people here, but I'm leaving as the noise from the construction site outside is bad, and also the ambulances, fire engines racing down the main road at night. But there are no doubt rooms facing away, if available. Many residents have been here a great number of years. yes, it has a pool, downstairs "Western" shop, and a very economical laundry shop, as well as under cover parking.

That is the last place you would want to stay at. If the Internet goes down at say 20:00 in the evening, you sometimes have to wait until 8:00 the next morning to get on-line again; 12 hours of no Internet. The management are very unfriendly. I stayed there for 7 months and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I doubt the OP is going to find anything in Nakorn Ping within their budget. Most of the studios in NPK are 7000 - 10,000 (for stays less than 12 months) and, as mentioned, internet is something you arrange yourself (management can give good advice about providers) and there isn't a gym. So, add in another 500 baht/month for internet and 1000 for a gym and and the OP will probably be over budget at NPK.

That being said, the location is great, the fellow residents pretty considerate and the building staff friendly and helpful. Do avoid the SW corner of the building, though. It's hot-hot-hot, has street noise from Huey Kaew and now noise from the construction site.

Frankly, the construction isn't that bad -- they just work 8 am to dark and it's fun to watch the progress of the project. It's a real comedy of errors sometimes. But, it could be annoying if your bedroom were on that side and you like to sleep in late or take afternoon naps.

As for internet we have 3BBB where I live and for the most part it is pretty good. I have a air stick from AIS which I use for a back up. For the most part it is the better of the two but it also has it's down moments. A friend in the building has been known to down load movies and had to borrow my stick to open up the proper files. Once they had the downloading started they could continue with out the air stick.

Alright good to know then. Maybe we will stay at a hotel for a bit then walk through the soi's for a bit and look for something good. I don't mind heading to the gym also.
