Looking For A Good Long-Stay Place In Cm

Featured Replies

I posted this topic in the Chiang Mai forum but got nothing but negative comments SO I posting it here cause I've had much better luck in the ladies forum happy.png

I've been finding it quite annoying searching for long-stay hotels due that a lot of them don't post their long-stay prices on their sites, if they do have long-stay options that is. I was wondering if anyone on the forums has found anything in my requirements or have had especially good/bad experiences anywhere. I'd prefer a hotel or guest house of the sort instead of an apartment so we don't have to commit to staying for 6 months to a year. We are more so looking for 1 month to 3 months at a time.

I'm looking for long hotels/inns that meet these requirements:

Things that are NEEDED

- 4,000-10,000 baht per month

- GREAT internet connection in suite (most important). I know it's hard to find in Thailand but if anyone has had "decent" service anywhere let me know.

- Preferably near the city center or on the western side of downtown.

- Pool and or gym on site or nearby.

- Somewhat clean, friendly staff, all those basics.

Things that are WANTED but aren't necessary:

- Restaurant in the hotel.

- Laundry service.

- Fridge.

- Nice outdoor area, like a courtyard of some sort with greenery.

If anyone has found somewhere good for these things it would help so much!

Hi! I am pleased with Huay Kaew Residence, and no, it is not perfect (at least another thread somewhere with negatives about it). it seems to met your requirements, has wi-fi (which I have not used). Internet shop nearby with wifi and knowlegeable computer staff----Buddy's.. Also, there is a soi opposite the adjoining Shell statrion, which has a couple of apartment houses. None of these are hotels, but at least HKR, (maybe the others), meet your requirements. Chiang Mia Orchard Hotel and Kad Suan Kaew also have fitness; the hotel has swimming also.

Hi Jelopi

I stayed in Huay Kaew Residence when I first moved to Chiang Mai. It was acceptable for a while but I knew I wouldn't be staying long term.

You may want to look at Condo 103 if you want to stay in the Huay Kaew/Nimman area. Another one that I looked at is View Doi Mansion in Santhitham, I didn't get to see a room as it was quite busy but the staff were nice and it is often full

You don't have to signal a social conscience by looking like a frump. Lace knickers won't hasten the holocaust, you can ban the bomb in a feather boa just as well as without, and a mild interest in the length of hemlines doesn't necessarily disqualify you from reading Das Kapital and agreeing with every word. ~Elizabeth Bibesco

Not only Doi Mansion, But Emporium next to it, and another leafy place with a roof terrace behind it.

Emporium, you can pay extra for a hard wired network port in your room.

Doi Mansion minimum stay 2 months.

Emporium minimum stay 1 month.

Fantastic! Thank you everyone for your info, I'll make sure to write it down in my notes. And check out some reviews on those places. Many thanks!

Heya Jelopi

If u have a bike and like to mod around, consider renting a Thai house ...it normally goes for 6000-8000 range an u can easily set up the rest like Internet and cable

The advantages if u find the right moo baan is really friendly neighbors, quiet places and where there re tons of cheap eats etc

They don't advertise so u need to bike into the sous and ask anyone with a sign on the door

Just saw one today 2 stores house go 6000 baht and they are willing to do short term rental as long as u pay upfront

Nice small yard, moobann of about 15 houses 2 bedroom and 2 baths and a big outdoor covered yard for kitchen partial furnished

PM me if u need details as I am back in feb and won't take up the offer so quickly on this house

Best of luck !

Lawrence

But as posted in another thread (globetrottergirls) lots of hookers hanging out in reception and hallways.

So might not be the first choice of stay for a young lady.

There are a few mainly elderly American expats that live in the building but there are loads of single farang women and couples of all ages in the building, many of whom are long term residents, of all ages, and many others that come back every year.

I know several women in their 50's and 60's that winter in the Smith Residence every year, to suggest that this place is sleazy is absolute nonsense.

ps OP......the guy that's owns the residence is a Doctor, and he is in the building every day. If you ever have a medical problem the staff will call him for you,.

Check out Golden Residence. It is near the Holiday Inn. Its 10 minutes from the southeast gate or just cross the river at the iron bridge and go 10 minutes up the road. Its across for a gas station that has a Tesco Lotus store. They give you two rooms with computer and wifi. Has big refridgerator and each room has a large flat screen tv and separate air conditioners. Try to get a room on the river side. One of the rooms is a living room with cozy sofa and chairs, long desk. You can ride into town on either sides of the river with a scooter. Holiday Inn has a great weekday lunch buffet and nearby is the Ratilanna hotel with a beautiful pool and fancy gym. I only paid 1600 for a month to use the Ratilanna facilities. You wont believe how good it is. The Golden Residence is off the tourist track a bit and little or no English is spoken. I liked being out there .. and met some good people.

Which street was that in?

And what exact time of day should I avoid going there?

Holiday Inn is quite far if you don't have transportation.

This is Thailand, some men bar fine girls and take them back to their room. It happens, everywhere but in the 3 years I've been here, I've never seen a lady of the night hanging around in reception or hallways. I believe she would be asked to move along as reputation is important to Dr Smith. And I would have complained if I'd seen one. The mini mart downstairs has a few chairs on a balcony and occasionally there's a big night where people get drunk and have fun, but mostly they're just hanging out having a drink or 2 and a good time. The blethering one is right - loads of females (mostly European) spend November to April here, book a year in advance so they get 'their' room, complemented by storage facilities so you don't have to bring everything with you every year.

To OP - in my experience, all hotels and apartments do long term rates if you ask (long term being monthly) but you usually have to ask, most people don't know/bother. My suggestion is that you take somewhere as a minimum to start off with, that way you find out if the soi dogs congregate under your window every night, the innocent looking empty block of land next door turns into a karaoke site at night, the cleaners don't clean, or the neighbours take an instant hating to you or play loud music every night. I've stayed in places that look fantastic during the day, but turn into nightmares when the sun goes down. Always go for the shortest possible time just to test the waters. And don't do anything over the internet. You MUST check out the area, the building and the room in person. Photoshop is a wonderful thing - you'll never see a photo of me with a wrinkle.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

To rent a house is cheap, but you may have to add/fix things in the house with your own expense.

Is 13500 baht a month acceptable for full furnished one bedroom including wi-fi, electricity, water, once a week cleaning, free transport to public bus, shared fridge and living room? Please google Baan WinRada to find my contact to get further info.
