Hi there,

I have a 1 year WP and a non B which got stamped for the initial 3 months stay. The stamp grants me permission to stay until September 5th. My company has been very lazy in those 3 months and yesterday they finally got the documents ready.

Today I went to immigration only to found that many documents should be certified by the revenue department and they were not. The officer also told me some document should be original and not copy. On top of that one of those "for the last 3 months" docs was missing the newer month.

The officer told me the certification takes around one week.

Now I'm waiting for my company to get the documents ready again but I am pretty sure they won't be on time, and scared about losing the visa and need to leave the country again for getting a new one.

What are my possibilities in the worst case scenario? Any ideas on what can I do if the documents are not ready before my visa expires?

You can try to get a 7 day "extension", but if still not ready by then your only option is to get a new non-B visa from abroad. (Unless you are married to a Thai national or have a child with Thai nationality).

Thanks Mario.

I guess this should be done in the standard visa extension section. I went to Chaeng Wattana and was asked if I worked here, then automatically they gave me a queue number for the business visa section. I guess I should get a queue number for the standard visa section, is that right?

My family is coming to visit me few days before the expiration date and we will be travelling around. Would it be possible to do a border run and get a visa exemption, do the tourist and then leave to apply for a new non B visa? Would my WP be modified in any way?

Thanks again

You were in the right section and should ask or a 7 day "extension" there with a letter from your employer explaining the situation and that they just need a few extra days to get the paperwork in order.

If you leave and return on a visa exempt, you will not be allowed to work. Not sure if your work permit would be invalidated, probably not. But you can only use it in combination with the right visa/extension of stay.

Thanks Mario,

Will try to get that extension tomorrow.

The exemption option I was thinking in case these 7 days finish and the documents are still not ready, because I just plan to do tourism and can wait until I finish the holidays and go abroad to get the new non B.

Anyway I will try to get the 7 days extension and then the 1 year.

Thanks for your replies guys!
